Research: Status of the Teaching Profession

The Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning, a non-profit organization whose sponsors include the California State University and University of California systems, recently published a report on the status of teaching in California. The report concludes that the neediest students in California high schools are being taught by the least prepared teachers. The report noted improvements in overall teacher preparation, but warned that “the California teacher development system as a whole is not sufficiently aligned with the high school reform movement.”
