Celebrate Read Across America Day Today!
World famous writer and cartoonist,Theodor Seuss Geisel, popularly known as Dr. Seuss,is a classic American icon. Geisel published 44 children’s books whose imaginative characters have become legendary. Favorites include Green Eggs and Ham;The Cat in the Hat;One Fish, Two Fish,Red Fish,Blue Fish;Horton Hatches the Egg;Horton Hears a Who!;and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Many of his classic stories have been adapted as television specials, a Broadway musical, and three feature films. Geisel died on September 24, 1991 in San Diego. Since then, Geisel’s birthday, March 2nd, has been the date for the National Education Association’s annual Read Across America Day celebration. Join the library staff and the CSUSB Children’s Center tomorrow, March 2, 2011, for book readings, coloring, and other arts and crafts from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. on the 1st floor of the library. And don’t miss the Dr. Seuss display on the 5th floor! As a bonus every person that checks out a book or DVD from the library tomorrow will receive a Dr. Seuss bookmark.
