In Loving Memory of Antreen Pfau

Display with photo of Mrs. PfauPlease come visit the display in memory of Antreen Pfau, wife of Cal State San Bernardino’s founding president, John M. Pfau. She recently passed away at the couple’s home in Napa, California, at the age of 93. A graduate of the University of Chicago, Antreen Pfau traveled to southern California with her husband in the early 1960s, when the couple came to establish the newest state college campus. California State College at San Bernardino officially opened its doors in 1965. Involved in community service, Antreen also was a member of the first Faculty Wives Club on campus. She and her husband retired from service to CSUSB in 1982. Just three years ago, in 2008, a scholarship and book fund was established in the name of John Pfau, a gift that rose from the family’s firm belief in the power of education. Antreen Pfau was, indeed, involved in community service. She served as President of the San Bernardino Chapter of National Charity League in 1967-1968. This organization is a mother-daughter philanthropy and community service group that works with a variety of organizations in the San Bernardino county area, allowing mothers to instill in their daughters a sense of giving to their community. She clearly contributed personally to her community, passed on the tradition to her daughters, and led and inspired others to also volunteer.
