Ruby Sparks

Four stars.

2012, 104 min. Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.

Calvin (played by Paul Dano) is a writer, living off the reputation of his debut book, who is now experiencing both writer’s block and relationship issues. He uses his manual typewriter to “create” the woman of his dreams, Ruby (played by Zoe Kazan, also the screenwriter), who comes to life and is compliant to his every wish. The two leads were also a couple offscreen as well. Small, and quite charming indie film directed by the same folks who brought us Little Miss Sunshine. View the record for Ruby Sparks.
