Safety Not Guaranteed

Four stars.

2012, 86 min. Directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Fans of Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Jake Johnson (New Girl) will want to check out this winning love story involving time travel set in Washington State. A Seattle magazine editor sends her writer (Johnson), and two interns (one played by Plaza) to interview the author of a newspaper ad who is seeking a companion to travel back in time with, and btw, “Safety Not Guaranteed.” Mark Duplass (The League) plays the eccentric time traveller, Kenneth, and he bonds with Darius (Plaza), while lead writer (Johnson) is looking up a high school sweetheart. Low budget, quirky, but uplifting experience, made enjoyable by an excellent script and cast. View the record for Safety Not Guaranteed.
