2011, 94 min. Directed by Jason Reitman.
The title of the film refers to the lead, Mavis (played by Charlize Theron), who is a YA author, but who also has never grown up into full adulthood. She moves back to her hometown in Minnesota with delusions of persuading her now-married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson) to run off with her. Along the way, she reconnects with high school buddy, Matt (played by an excellent Patton Oswalt), who also has a case of arrested development. Low budget black comedy with a ring of truth, and painful to watch at times, as Mavis’ embarrassing predicament unravels. View the record for Young Adult.
