Cedar Rapids

Three stars.

2011, 87 min. Directed by Miguel Arteta.

Stars Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover) as a sheltered insurance agent who is attending his first convention in the big “metropolis” of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is taken under the wings of three veterans played by: Anne Heche, John C. Reilly, and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. A bit raunchy in its humor, but ultimately, sweet in tone, as the main character wises up to the ways of the world by the end of the film. Whitlock’s character reprises his famous elongated enunciation of the expletive, “sh*******t!” from the HBO series, The Wire. See the record for Cedar Rapids.
