My Week With Marilyn
2011, 99 mins., directed by Simon Curtis
Based on Colin Clark’s book, The Prince, the Showgirl, and Me, this film tells the story of young Clark (played by an excellent Eddie Redmayne) and the months he served as third assistant director in 1956 on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl. Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) is both the lead actor and director, and is having a difficult time dealing with his co-star, a very insecure Marilyn Monroe (played by Michele Williams). Monroe soon relies on Clark for emotional support, and they become involved in a short-lived affair of sorts. Handsomely produced, the film also stars Judi Dench, Julia Ormond, Emma Watson, Dominic Cooper, and Dougray Scott. Highly recommended! See the record for My Week with Marilyn.
