Art Nelson was part of the initial planning team. His job was to build a library collection. (He actually built two – one for Cal State San Bernardino, the other for Cal State Dominguez Hills.) He built extraordinary collections of 50,000 volumes, the best works available in every discipline.  Early faculty listed the library resources available as a good reason to come to CSCSB.

The books were delivered and cataloged in a warehouse in San Bernardino. When Sierra Hall, the site of the first CSCSB Library, was built, the collection was ready to move in!
