Graduate Students

Borrowing Materials:

Your library card is your Coyote OneCard. See CSUSB Students: Check-Out Policies for details on loan periods, renewals, overdue fees, and more.

Course Reserves are materials placed in the library by an instructor for a whole class to use. Some are available online as PDF files (get the course password from your instructor). Physical materials must be checked out from the Course Reserves Desk on the first floor. You need the call number of the item in order to request it at the CourseReserves Desk.

Interlibrary Loan:

If the library does not have an item you need, you can request it through ILLiad, our Interlibrary Loan system, and we will get a copy from a library that does have it. There is usually no charge for this service. Articles are delivered online, typically in 2-3 days. Books must be shipped and typically arrive in 7-10 days. Sorry, we cannot interlibrary loan the required textbook for any CSUSB course.

Off-Campus Database Access:

The library's online resources, including article databases and ebooks, are available to current CSUSB students anytime, anywhere. Just login as a CSUSB user when prompted.

Computer Access:

Use any of the Pfau Library's terminals with your MyCoyote login; includes full Web access, Microsoft Office software, and SPSS. Please see Computing for more details.

Printing & Photocopying:

Add money to your Coyote OneCard to pay for printing and photocopying. See Printing & Copying for more details.

Other Services:

We encourage all graduate students, particularly those beginning work on their theses or master's projects, to consult with a librarian about resources and research strategies for your discipline. We are happy to schedule appointments for consultations. Find the Department Liaison librarian for your subject area and contact us for more information.

The library also offers periodic workshops for grad students through the Office of Graduate Studies. Contact librarian Barbara Quarton, or 909-537-7553 for more information.

Graduate students are eligible to apply for one of the library's private study carrels. See Study Rooms for more details.

Hard copies of completed CSUSB theses and projects are part of the library's collections. Find them with the Pfau Library Catalog Master's Theses/Project Search. Copies are shelved in the Thesis Room, PL-309. If you are looking for a recently completed thesis/project, please be advised that they require considerable time to catalog and process and therefore may not be available for several months after we receive them. Beginning with degrees granted in 2014, CSUSB theses/projects are available online in CSUSB ScholarWorks: Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations.

For copies of thesis/project format templates, see the Office of Graduate Studies' Templates page.
